Strongsville’s Bass named All-District

This past week the OHSAA Northeast Lakes District announced its All-District honors for the 2018-2019 basketball season and Strongsville sophomore Reagan Bass was selected to the Division I second team. Bass was among Northeast Ohio’s leaders in several statistical categories this season and led the Greater Cleveland Conference in rebounding with a 10 rebounds per game average and finished 3rd in scoring at 17.0 points per game. Euclid’s Constance Chaplin earned Division I District Player of the Year.

Strongsville’s Grecol and Blickle set new Records

The Strongsville Mustangs Wrestling team’s season officially ended this year at the North Canton District meet but David Grecol and Benji Blickle achieved individual milestones and in the process added their names to the Strongsville recordbook. Senior Benji Blickle set the Strongsville record for most technical superiority victories in a season with 14. A technical superiority victory is when a wrestler outscores an opponent by a specified number of points-essentially it is wrestling’s version of the mercy rule.

Senior team captain David Grecol, with a 32-7 record coming into the district meet, set the Strongsville record for the most pins in a single season with 27. Grecol will be attending Notre Dame College next year where he will be playing rugby for the Falcons.

Thall is Golden

Lindsey Thall, a 2018 Strongsville graduate, is having a major impact for the Kent State Women’s Basketball team as a freshman. She recently set a career-high with 22 points against the Ohio University Bobcats. Thall, who led the Mustangs to a regional championship in 2018, is a starter for the Golden Flashes and is currently averaging 10.2 points and 5 rebounds per game.
