Mustangs News · 2019 GIRLS TRACK SEASON PREVIEW

The Lade Mustangs Track team is gearing up for another successful season.  The Lady Mustangs are led by Head Coach John Syroney and are coming off a 4th place finish in the conference last year.  The team also features 26 multi-sport student athletes.

The Lady Mustangs want to continue their recent success and look to qualify as many athletes to the State meet as possible.  The ladies will attempt to do well during the Conference Championship Meet and anticipate a top 3 finish.  The team returns 15 letter winners from a year ago and expects big things from Seniors, Emilia Lesniak, Erin Sievers, Maddie Drlik and Allie Monyak.  The team looks for contributions as well from Juniors Karson Cobb, Lorissa Schwab, Katie Kappel, Marquis Globokar and Shelby Sallee.

When asked about the upcoming season, Coach Syroney state, “I am most excited about the number of incoming athletes to the program.  So far this year, we have 72 girls on the roster.  I am especially looking forward to seeing how the incoming freshman will contribute to the team.  We have a number of very talented girls who can contribute right away to the success of the team”.

As you can see, there are very high expectations for the Lady Mustangs track program this season.  Although expectations are high, coach Syroney also understands there maybe some challenges along the way.  When asked about the challenges, Coach Syroney stated, “The unknown challenges are trying to score enough points in the 5 field events every meet especially the throws.  I believe other challenges include scoring enough points in distance events maybe a tougher challenge as well.”  Coach Syroney went on to further explain that the program had lost a great number of distance runners over the last 2 years so trying to plug in the gaps this year with some inexperienced, but determined athletes is good challenge.
