Mustangs News · 2020 Boys Lacrosse Season Preview

The 2020 season begins with a change at the top.  George Muller stepped down as head coach after accumulating a 38-34 overall record over a four-year span, which included last year’s 12-6 historic record.  Coach Muller certainly left his imprint on the program and leaves it in great shape for new head coach Andrew Spreng.  Coach Spreng spent two years as the Mustangs JV coach and inherits a Varsity team that has experience and depth; 11 players logged over 60 quarters of play last season.

The Mustangs kick off their season on the road vs Bay Village (3/20) and to say that this year’s squad is ready to kick off the 2020 season is an understatement.  Face-off specialist Luke Demmerle (JR) had a great off-season and looks to improve upon his Sophomore campaign.  At the Attack position, Adam Dubsky (SR) and Ben Giera (JR) are leading by example every day in practice.  Midfielders Ean Gute (SR), Andrew Keating (SR), Brendan Spooner (SR), and Zach Zoul (JR) have worked hard every day in practice to increase their speed and endurance.  Patrick Grealis (SR) will mind the cage for his third straight year and provides consistency at a position that is critical to the team’s success.  Defensively Ethan Dewes (SR), Cooper Hawk (SR), Ryan Seefeldt (SR), and Josh Jelinek (JR) have made it their goal to make opposing offensives uncomfortable and grab every groundball within the vicinity.  Coach Spreng will rely on these returning players as well as some new faces to take the program to the next level.

Come out and support these young men at one of the home games in Pat Catan stadium vs Berea Midpark (3/30), Medina (4/21), Perrysburg – Youth Lacrosse Day (4/25), Avon (4/30), Avon Lake – Senior Night (5/2), and Solon (5/5).  A complete schedule can be found on the Strongsville High School Athletics website.
