Strongsville fell to 5-5 on the young season after falling to St. Ignatius 10-0 in 6 innings at Baldwin Wallace University’s Fisher Field on Friday afternoon. The Mustangs threatened in the 1st inning when Joey Venter singled, advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and to 3rd on a groundball to the right side, however a strikeout and groundout ended one of the only Mustang threats of the night. St. Ignatius took advantage of two 2-out walks in the first inning with a subsequent RBI single and 2 RBI single. The Wildcats never looked back. St. Ignatius LHP Tommy Grosel needed only 69 pitches to throw a complete game shutout and send the Mustangs back to the .500 mark.
Strongsville will come home Monday afternoon for a conference matchup with Mentor at 4:30.
