Strongsville finished in 6th place with 19 point at the Greater Cleveland Conference Tournament Friday afternoon at Shaker Heights. The Mustangs were within 7 points of 5th place Brunswick (23), 4th place Mentor (25) and 3rd place Medina (26). At second doubles, Amelia Matousek and Bhavya Anoop – tied for 4th in seeding – were on the 6th seed line after the tiebreak and upset 3rd seed Brunswick to move onto the semifinals. After dropping the semifinals to runner up Shaker, the team defeated Medina to claim 3rd place. After dropping the first match of the day, first doubles (Steph Gaidos/Vic Matelski) won the final two matches of the day over Elyria and Medina to finish in 5th place with a 2-1 record. All three singles courts finished in 6th place with 1-2 records on the day. Strongsville returns to action Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before competing in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament on October 2.
